Tens of thousands of acres burned as two wildfires joined together to form what state officials called a long, large fire that ravaged for more than two weeks and blackened approximately 125,000 acres. Fires were first reported starting Wednesday, April 13, 2011 and were not contained until Friday, April 29, 2011. Over 160 homes and two churches were destroyed as the fires made their way to the border of the Rio Roca Ranch on three sides.
